Jamia 13th Annual Quran Competition

The grand finale of the 13th Jamia Quran Memorization Competition concluded with an impressive
ceremony, declaring Abdilatif Abdi Mirad as the ultimate victor. The three-day event hosted at Jamia Mosque Nairobi showcased exceptional
talent and dedication to Quranic memorization.
The competition, organized by Jamia Mosque Nairobi in collaboration with the Cultural Attaché of the
Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia embassy in Kenya, featured categories ranging from five Ajzaa chapters
to the memorization of the entire Quran.
A total of 276 contestants competed in preliminary zonal competitions, with the top three advancing to
the final held at Jamia Mosque Nairobi. Participants from 50 educational institutions across Nairobi and
its environs, as well as from Kajiado, Nakuru, and Isiolo Counties, showcased their skills, making the
event a resounding success.
Abdilatif Abdi Mirad, a 23-year-old hailing from Sharq Ifriqiya, captivated judges with his flawless
recitation and comprehensive memorization of the entire Quran, exemplifying mastery in tajweed. As a
reward for his outstanding achievement, Senator Travels Services Limited bestowed upon him a
pilgrimage trip to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah (lesser pilgrimage), adding a memorable
dimension to his triumph. In recognition of his remarkable talents, Abdilatif further received a cash prize
of Ksh 166,500 along with a Crylic cone plaque.
